LARGE HEAT PUMPS WITH NON-AZEOTROPIC MIXTURES AS WORKING FLUIDS: SOME RESULTS FROM COMPUTER SIMULATIONS.

Summary

CALCULATIONS WERE MADE FOR THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MIXTURES, R12/R114, R12/R11 AND R22/R114. THE COP, THE THERMAL CAPACITY AND THE CONDENSING PRESSURE WERE STUDIED AS A FUNCTION OF THE MIXTURE COMPOSITION. THE RESULTS SHOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO IMPROVE THE COP CONSIDERABLY BY USING MIXTURES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GRADIENTS OF THE HEAT SINK AND HEAT SOURCE ARE HIGH. THIS IMPROVEMENT IS LESS MARKED FOR FINITE SURFACE HEAT EXCHANGERS.
