The Powell Energy unitary thermal storage unit: a packaged TES system for the small commercial rooftop unit market.

Author(s) : DENKMANN J. L.

Summary

A new refrigerant-based TES (thermal energy storage) concept, a packaged 45 ton-hour ice thermal storage unit, was introduced on the TES market. Aimed at rooftop units in the 10 to 15 ton size range, the unitary thermal storage unit is also being developed for the emerging IAQ market with a rooftop unit having a 7,22 deg C dewpoint supply air as the design target. Design is described.
