The "COOLENERG" clean power process: a challenge for the advanced absorption cooling technology.

Author(s) : STAICOVICI M. D.

Summary

The paper presents results of modelling the COOLENERG (CO2 Loop for Energy and Nature Enhanced by Refrigeration and Gas turbines) power process, if its advanced absorption cooling plant operated with generator and evaporator end temperatures of 500 to 750 and 267 to 227 K, respectively, for three study cases. All study cases show simultaneous plant power efficiency increase (0.51 to 0.55) and CO2 condensing pressure decrease (64 to 8 bar). Process improvements could increase COOLENERG power efficiency to 0.56-0.60. The results obtained emphasize that power and absorption cooling technologies could be coupled in the future for a cleaner and safer power production.
