Summary
The author discusses plant reaction to the use of mixtures at very broad temperature ranges. Compressor performance measurements of different manufacturers, with R404a, R502 and R507 are compared. First results are presented of R507 use in new cold-storage installations, and of evaporator measurements in display cabinets. First operating experience shows that the azeotropic refrigerant R507 is, without reservations, suitable as a R502 substitute and has considerable energy advantages over other substitutes.
