Summary

THE SWISS MARKET FOR FROZEN FOODS WAS SOMEWHAT STAGNANT IN 1990, WITH GROWTH OF ONLY 1.4 %, AND PER CAPITA CONSUMPTION REMAINING AT 21.8 KG. THE POOR RESULTS WERE DUE MAINLY TO AN 11.5 % DROP IN CONSUMPTION OF FROZEN POULTRY, WHICH REPRESENTS 23.5 % OF THE TOTAL MARKET. CONSUMPTION OF OTHER PRODUCTS, ON THE OTHER HAND, ROSE BY 8 %. THE AUTHOR ALSO GIVES SOME STATISTICS ON SALES OF FREEZERS AND MICROWAVE OVENS, AND ON ICE-CREAM CONSUMPTION, AND OFFERS AN OUTLOOK. M. C.
