The use of HFC134a with mineral oil in hermetic cooling equipment.
Author(s) : JANSSEN M. J. P., ENGELS F. L. M., KUIJPERS L. J. M.
Summary
Due to the fact that the refrigerant R134a is insoluble in mineral oil, new types of lubricants are necessary in refrigeration circuits, e.g. polyolesters. The combination of R134a/polyolester is widely used in several types of refrigeration systems. However, particularly for small hermetic systems, substantial changes to designs and production processes have been required. The application of R134a in a refigeration circuit with mineral oil can lead to the problem of quantity of a hydrocarbon, which is well soluble in mineral oil.
