Summary

Strawberry cv. Oso Grande fruits were placed in trays and covered with 22 or 45 micro-m low-density polyethylene (FPBD) film and stored at 0 or 20 °C. Fruits covered with 22 micro-m FPBD and stored at 20 °C recorded lower rot incidence, less reddening, lower titratable acidity and higher pulp firmness. Fruits covered with 45 mico-m FPBD were alcoholic in taste due to the accumulation of high partial carbon dioxide in the film. Fruits covered with FPBD had better quality compared to those stored at 0 °C.
