The world's best selling heat pump: what makes the Japanese room heat pump so successful?
Author(s) : ITOH H.
Type of article: Article
Summary
With 1994 sales of almost 6 million units in Japan alone, Japanese room heat pumps far exceed sales of any other heat pump type in the world. The remarkable popularity of these air-to-air reversible air conditioners is the result of a growing demand for increased comfort in the home, both in summer and in winter. Since its introduction in the early 1970s, many refinements have been made to the room heat pump, bringing better comfort, less noise and improved energy efficiency.
