An experimental study on the performance of a two-stage absorption chiller.

Summary

The performance of a two-stage lithium bromide/water absorption refrigeration system, driven by low temperature hot water, has been studied and tested on a 6 kilowatt experimental prototype. The results showed that a two-stage lithium bromide absorption refrigeration system can operate satisfactorily to produce 9 deg C chilled water, when hot water temperature ranged from 75 to 86 deg C and the condenser cooling water temperature was 32 deg C, with a COP being between 0.33 and 0.38. It concludes that a two-stage lithium bromide absorption refrigeration system is more advantageous in recovering low grade waste heat than an one-stage system.
