Summary

Following a review of the items of an air-conditioning thermal balance and the distinction between the balance of a room or of a zone and the overall balance of a building, methods for reducing refrigerating capacity and actual use are discussed. The benefits of calculating by dynamic simulation are underlined. Qualitative and quantitative data are very useful. Examples of qualitative utilization are given and explained by diagrams for an industrial building and for a large theatre, and some examples of quantitative use are also provided. J.L.
