Thermal control of freeze-drying processes in a porous medium with predetermined rate of drying.

Author(s) : LIN S.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

A one-dimensional freeze-drying process taking place in a porous medium is designed with a predetermined drying rate. When the drying rate is inversely proportional to the square root of time, a constant surface temperature and a constant surface vapour moisture concentration are required to match the drying rate. For other drying rates, the required surface conditions must be functions of time in order to match the drying rates.
