Summary

Presents the evaluation indices of thermal environment in data rooms. Taking a typical data room as example, through field test and CFD simulation of the thermal environment, finds cooling waste. Two strategies of adding vertical partitions above the rack on cold aisle side and partly enclosing cold aisles are adopted to improve air distribution based on the original configuration. The results of CFD simulation indicate that the two strategies are both effective, while the latter limits the cold air in the cold aisles to a larger extent, and provides enough cold air to the servers. Therefore, it gets better performance in cooling efficiency improvement.
