Thermal properties and large magnetocaloric effect in La(1-x)Ag(y)MnO3 (y inferior or equal to x) manganites at room temperatures.

Summary
For the first time the magnetocaloric properties of La(0.9)Ag(0.1)MnO(3), La(0.8)Ag(0.2)MnO(3), La(0.85)Ag(0.15)MnO(3), La(0.8)Ag(0.15)MnO(3) manganites have been investigated by direct and indirect measuring techniques. All samples showed almost the same relative cooling power, RCP, because the decrease in maximum magnetocaloric effect was accompanied by a widening of the magnetocaloric peaks. Temperatures of maxima of magnetocaloric effect cover the room and subroom temperature regions. Because of considerable magnetocaloric effect and the Curie temperatures range from 269 to 303 K, these materials could be used as magnetic refrigerants for MR in the sub-room and room temperature range.
