Thermodynamic properties of HCFC124.

Summary
R124 (1-chloro-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane) is a possible substitute for R114 and is already used in some new mixtures of refrigerants. Accurate measurements of the thermodynamic properties of R124 are presented. In the temperature range between 220 and 395 K, vapour pressures were determined using a static method. For temperatures between 243 and 453 K and pressures between 0.02 and 20 megapascals, densities in the single-phase regions were measured. These new measurements and others are the basis of a comprehensive fundamental equation of state, which permits evaluation of all thermodynamic properties of R124 in the temperature range between 100 and 453 K and for pressures up to 20 megapascals.
