THERMODYNAMICAL AND TECHNICAL PROBLEMS IN SOLAR ADSORPTION REFRIGERATION.

Author(s) : BOUGARD J.

Summary

ADSORPTION REFRIGERATING MACHINES ARE AN ATTRACTIVE ANSWER IN HOT COUNTRIES. PREDICTIONS AND CORRELATIONS OF THE ADSORPTION EQUILIBRIUM PROPERTIES ARE STILL PRESENTING DIFFICULTIES IN THE HIGH PRESSURE RANGE AND SATURATION CONDITIONS. A THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS SHOWS, FOR TEMPERATURES BELOW 273 K (0 DEG C), THE INTEREST OF THE ACTIVE CHARCOAL-METHANOL AND ACTIVE CHARCOAL-AMMONIA COUPLES AS WELL AS THE POSSIBILITIES OFFERED BY SOLID-GAS REACTIONS. THE GLOBAL SOLAR EFFICIENCY WILL REMAINLIMITED AROUND 10%.
