Thermoeconomic problems regarding single- and two-phase plate heat exchanger design.

Author(s) : MIHAILA C., BALTARETU F.

Summary

In recent years, the classic heat exchangers used in refrigeration have begun to be replaced by modern ones (compact heat exchangers), characterized by high thermal efficiency, reduced dimensions, easy instalment, high reliability. Among them, plate heat exchangers (PHE) are widely used, due to their high overall heat transfer coefficients (provided that the heat transfer surfaces are clean). In the paper, numerical modelling of single- and two-phase plate heat exchangers is analysed, and the Hottinger method is used in order to determine the optimal circulating velocity of the main thermodynamic fluid.
