Summary
This ship, called the "m.s. Oriana", is to be launched in mid-1995. The mega-chillers with which it is being equipped, each weigh 37 tonnes and have a cooling capacity of 6.6 megawatts; they are the largest ever placed on a ship. Working pressure is 17.5 bars, and up to 2,400 m3 of water is pumped through the system every hour. R22 was chosen as refrigerant; specially developed heat exchangers have made it possible to reduce charge to 440 liters. The COP is 4.4 in extreme tropical conditions. The installation is to be cooled using seawater.
