Type of article: Article

Summary

THREE YBCO SAMPLES WERE PREPARED UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS. THE STARTING MATERIALS WERE YTTRIUM OXIDE (99.99 %), COPPER OXIDE (99.999 %), AND BARIUM CARBONATE (99.999 %). ALL THE SPECIMENS DEMONSTRATED A MEISSNER EFFECT AT LIQUID-NITROGEN TEMPERATURE. FROM TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENT RESISTIVITY MEASUREMENTS, THE CRITICAL TEMPERATURE FOR THE 3 SAMPLES WAS FOUND TO BE AROUND 93 K, IN AGREEMENT WITH OTHER REPORTS.
