Two-circuit cascade refrigerator unit for short-time cryopreservation of biological materials at -70 °C.
Author(s) : KUN L. C., ARKHAROV I. A., NAVASARDYAN E. S., et al.
Summary
A new design for a cheap and compact refrigerator for short-term cryopreservation of biological materials is presented. The main advantage of the new refrigerator is that it works without LN2 and refrigerant mixture and includes commercially available machines and apparatus. The first circuit is the standard vapour-compression cycle with R22. The second circuit is based on a vortex tube that works on dry air. The estimated cooling capacity of the unit is about 180 W at -70 C.
