Use of low-temperature heat to produce deeper temperature refrigeration by means of a new type absorption refrigeration plant.

Summary

The paper presents a new type of absorption refrigeration plant with which the production of cold of a temperature level of about -30 to 0 deg C is economically possible. The new plant is run on a ammonia-water mixture. It comprises the following components: desorber, condenser, evaporator as well as a low-pressure and a high-pressure absorber. The heart of the new plant, the low-pressure absorber, is cooled by means of part of the ammonia refrigerant down to a temperature which lies below the temperature which can be achieved by using cooling water. Thus it is possible to reach a higher concentration of the liquid solution, to increase the degassification range and to operate the desorber at low sump temperatures. In this way, it is possible to heat the desorber with low-temperature waste heat.
