Summary

DETAILED REVIEW OF THE CONDITIONS AND ADVANTAGES OF THE USE OF NON-AZEOTROPIC MIXTURES AS THE REFRIGERANT IN PLANT USING COMPRESSION CYCLES WITH PHASE CHANGE, AND MORE PRECISELY AS A REPLACEMENT OF FLUIDS WHICH ARE HARMFUL TO THE OZONE LAYER. THE CARNOT AND LORENTZ CYCLES ARE COMPARED IN ORDER TO SHOW THE ENERGY BENEFITS OF A MIXTURE RELATIVE TO A PURE RE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE MIXTURE ARE ANALYZED (REFRIGERATING CAPACITY, CAPACITY VARIATION, ADAPTABILITY BY THE SELECTION OF THE MIXTURE). THEN, THE STUDIES AND EXPERIMENTS CARRIED OUT BY THE INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE ARE PRESENTED SUCH AS: CRITERIA FOR THE SELECTION OF A MIXTURE ; OPTIMIZATION OF THE COMPOSITION OF THE MIXTURE AND OF THE OPERATING CYCLE ; DEVELOPMENT OF A R22-R23 MIXTURE AND ITS EXPERIMENTAL USE IN A HEAT PUMP HAVING A HEATING DUTY OF 10 KILOWATTS ; AND STUDY OF VARIOUS INDUSTRIAL HEAT PUMP PROTOTYPES.
