Summary

The use of phase-change materials (PCM) in building construction materials is a way to increase thermal inertia of walls in keeping a small thickness. Coupling PCM with a vacuum insulating panel (VIP) allows thermal inertia to be increased while limiting heat losses. In this paper, the characterization of different walls associating PCM and VIP is presented. The thermal behaviour of test-cells with such walls was also studied. The results obtained make the concept valid. A numerical simulation was carried out under real climatic conditions for comparison with the experimental results with a view to obtaining a predictive tool.
