USING A CENTRAL AIR-HANDLING UNIT SYSTEM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL OF ELECTRONIC DATA PROCESSING CENTERS.

Author(s) : LONGBERG J. C.

Summary

CENTRAL AIR-HANDLING UNIT SYSTEMS FOR DATA PROCESSING CENTERS HAVE CLEAR ADVANTAGES OVER CHILLED-WATER PACKAGED FAN COIL SYSTEMS. HOWEVER, SEVERAL FEATURES ARE REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE THESE RESULTS. MULTIPLE AIR-HANDLING UNITS ARE NEEDED. A COMMON DISTRIBUTION DUCT-WORK WITH VARIABLE-AIR-VOLUME ZONES IS ALSO NECESSARY. THE AIR-HANDLING UNITS SHOULD INCLUDE VARIABLE-VOLUME CONTROL OF THE FANS. THE USE OF AN EVAPORATIVE COOLER HUMIDIFIER IS ALSO USEFUL. FINALLY, QUALITY AIR FILTERS MUST BE USED ; AND ALSO A QUALITY, EASY-TO-USE DIRECT DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEM.
