MILK COOLERS GIVE TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS FAVOURABLE TO HEAT RECOVERY. HOWEVER, PROBLEMS ARE RAISED WHEN CONDENSER HEAT HAS TO BE USED. THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES SOME POSSIBLE PROCEDURES AND SHOWS THE PREDICTABLE SAVINGS FOR 1,000 L MILK COOLED FROM 308 TO 278 K (35 TO 5 DEG C). BY AN OPTIMAL COMBINATION OF HEAT RECOVERY AND ADDITIONAL HEATING 16,000 KILOWH ANNUAL SAVINGS OF ELECTRIC POWER CAN BE MADE.
