Viscosity of ice slurries in heterogeneous flow.

Author(s) : KITANOVSKI A., POREDOS A.

Summary

A mathematical model for calculating the viscosity for fully suspended ice slurry flow in horizontal pipes without any need to define the type of ice slurry flow has been developed. The model depends on the velocity, pipe diameter, ice particle diameter, average ice concentration and the properties of the carrier liquid. For three pipe diameters and five ice concentrations the influence of velocity has been studied and discussed (model limitation of particle size: 1 mm).
