A CAREFUL MONITORING PROGRAMME HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS ON 20 COOLING TOWERS IN AUSTRALIA. THE RESULTS PUBLISHED HERE COMPARE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND COST OF DIFFERENT METHODS OF WATER TREATMENT. NO FIRM CONCLUSIONS ARE DRAWN, BUT THE RELATIVE MERITS ARE DEMONSTRATED. A.R.T.
