THE PAPER DESCRIBES THE VARIOUS THERMAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS AND CORROSION INHIBITOR OF THE VARIOUS WORKING MEDIUM-ABSORBENT SYSTEMS FOR THE ABSORPTION REFRIGERATING MACHINE, ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP AND ABSORPTION HEAT TRANSFORMER USING WATER, ALCOHOL, HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON AND AMMONIA AS THE WORKING MEDIUM. NEW WORKING MEDIUM-ABSORBENT SYSTEMS SUCH AS WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE-ZINC CHLORIDE SYSTEM, WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE-ZINC BROMIDE SYSTEM, WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE-LITHIUM CHLORIDE-ZINC CHLORIDE SYSTEM, R22-DIETHYLENEGLYCOL-DIMETHYLETHER SYSTEM AND THE TRIFLUOROETHANOL-N-METHYLPYRROLIDONE SYSTEM ARE DESCRIBED.
