Working substances for absorption heat pumps based on R32.

Summary

The possibility of using refrigerants free of CFCs as alternatives to CFCs in absorption heat pumps and refrigeration units has been studied. The thermophysical and transport properties of the refrigerant-absorbent pair were determined, and the performances of the working fluid were evaluated with the aid of a computerized simulation program based on a single-stage absorption cycle containing a jet ejector as a mixer and preabsorber. The suitability of a working fluid based on R32 and DMAC (N,N'-dimethylacetamide) as the absorbent was evaluated. The performance of R32-DMAC was compared with that of three other working fluids, R22-DMAC, R134a-DMAC and R124-DMAC. Results are given. The authors are also exploring the possibility of using mixtures of different refrigerants and investigating the overall performance of ternary working fluids in absorption units.
