United States: November 2024 heating and cooling equipment shipment data
AHRI provides monthly data on heating and cooling equipment shipped by US manufacturers in the US market. The data provided covers the two months prior to the month of release. Therefore, data for November 2024 was released in January 2025.
The Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) provides monthly data on the volume of heating and cooling equipment shipped by US manufacturers into the US market. Their latest shipment data report covered the month of November 2024, with year-to-date comparisons with November 2023.
According to AHRI, US shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totalled 707,436 units in November 2024, up 55.2% from the 455,860 units shipped in November 2023. Sales are recovering from the sharp drop in 2023 (see our previous article for more information).
Year-to-date combined shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps are up 11.5% over the number of units shipped in the same period in 2023. Year-to-date shipments of central air conditioners increased by 9.7%, while those of heat pumps increased by 14.0%.
The AHRI statistics team defines a shipment as when a unit transfers ownership; a consignment is not a transfer of ownership. Industry data is aggregated from the information supplied by AHRI member companies that participate in the statistics program and can be subject to revision. AHRI’s 300+ member companies account for more than 90% of the residential and commercial air conditioning, space heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment manufactured and sold in North America.
