Summary

The authors analyse data on the cryopreservation of human embryos over a 3-year period spanning 2002-2004 of 133 cryopreserved cycles derived from 908 treatment cycles, the rates of implantation and pregnancy obtained using frozen, than thawed, embryos were significantly lower than those obtained using fresh embryo transfer cycles. However, the annual rates of implantation and pregnancy in freeze-thawed embryo transfer cycles remained constant throughout the period investigated. Material age influenced the outcomes.
