A CO2 refrigerating unit as a component of an air-conditioning plant at the ILK Dresden.

Author(s) : GROHMANN S., WOBST E.

Summary

The ILK Dresden runs a complex air-conditioning plant on basis of desiccative and evaporative cooling technology. A CO2 refrigeration circuit is one air handling stage of this arrangement. The authors investigated the operating behaviour of this plant in several possibilities of circuit modification. Taking into account the refrigerant properties, the final solution of the CO2 circuit with high pressure control, mean pressure accumulator and dry evaporation is introduced. Refrigerating capacity is about 5 kilowats and the COP within a range of 1.5 to 2.5 at air-conditioning conditions. Measurement results are presented and promising future applications for CO2 refrigeration plants are pointed out.
