Summary

THE A. EXAMINES A CARNOT CYCLE BETWEEN TWO FIXED TEMPERATURE SOURCES, THROUGH TRANSMISSION SURFACES WITH EXCHANGE COEFFICIENTS ASSUMED TO BE CONSTANT. HAVING ESTABLISHED THE EXPRESSION OF THE MAXIMUM OBTAINABLE POWER, THE RELEVANT THERMODYNAMIC YIELD IS CAREFULLY EXAMINED, AS THIS YIELD HAS A VALUE WHICH IS CHARACTERISTIC AND INDEPENDENT OF THERMAL EXCHANGE SURFACES. AN INTERESTING HYDRAULIC ANALOGY OF THE THERMAL PHENOMENON, USING A PARALLEL BETWEEN PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE AS WELL AS BETWEEN VOLUME AND ENTROPY, FACILITATES UNDERSTANDING OF THIS LATTER FUNDAMENTAL THERMODYNAMIC QUANTITY.
