Summary
The paper presents the case study of a geothermal system, installed in a 15-acre lake, which powers heating, cooling and ventilation for the 700 000 ft2 Great River Medical Center in Iowa, via 80 heat pumps throughout the building, thereby reducing energy and patient-care costs. The system configuration is described. The hospital has become a showcase project.
