A look into the crystal ball: what can we expect of the future?
En titt i kristallkulan: vad kan vi förvänta oss av framtiden?

Summary
How will tomorrow's refrigeration technology differ from today's? The author has seen in the past how unexpected circumstances have taken the development in directions no-one could have anticipated. One such example is the understanding of how CFCs impact the ozone layer, which has led to the development of new refrigerants and indirect systems. Some of these refrigerants have properties that would otherwise have made them unacceptable, such as glide, flammability or high pressures. If we discount uncertainties and try to look into what the future might bring there are a couple of things that stand firm. One thing is that tomorrow's refrigeration systems must be designed to have as little impact as possible on the environment, in the local as well as in the global perspective. The author discusses different and possible developments of refrigeration technology at both the system and component levels.
