A NEW ABSORBER HEAT RECOVERY CYCLE TO IMPROVE COP OF AQUA-AMMONIA ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION SYSTEM.
Author(s) : KANDLIKAR S. G.
Summary
IN THIS SCHEME, THE HEAT EVOLVED DURING THE ABSORPTION PROCESS IS UTILIZED IN THE GENERATOR TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF EXTERNAL HEAT SUPPLIED. PRESENTED HEREIN ARE DETAILED ANALYSES OF THE CONVENTIONAL AND MODIFIED SYSTEMS. THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE SYSTEMS IS EVALUATED USING REALISTIC VALUES FOR THE EFFICIENCIES OF THE HEAT EXCHANGERS AND RECTIFICATION COLUMN. THE GENERATOR TEMPERATURES INVESTIGATED RANGED FROM 363 TO 453 K (90 TO 180 DEG C), CONDENSER AND ABSORBER TEMPERATURES FROM 303 TO 323 K (30 TO 50 DEG C), FOR AN EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE OF 273 K (0 DEG C). IMPROVEMENTS OF EIGHT TO TEN PERCENT IN THE COP VALUES ARE OBTAINED UNDER ALL THE OPERATING CONDITIONS INVESTIGATED. SOLAR COOLING BEGINS TO LOOK ATTRACTIVE WITH THE MODIFIED ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION SYSTEM.
