Summary
A PARAMETRIC STUDY FOR THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF LARGE CAPACITY REFRIGERATED LPG/LNG CARRIERS IS PRESENTED. THE RANGE OF CAPACITY IS FROM 25,000 TO 140,000 CUBIC METERS. RELATIONS BETWEEN THE MAIN DIMENSIONS, WEIGHTS OF VARIOUS COMPONENTS AND THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCE ARE GIVEN IN EMPIRICAL FORMULAE. MATHEMATICAL MODELS FOR A COMPUTER PROGRAM ARE ILLUSTRATED WITH AN EXAMPLE, WHICH SHOWS FAIRLY GOOD APPROXIMATION WITH THE DATA OBTAINED FROM THE DETAILED CALCULATION OF A VESSEL ACTUALLY BUILT.
