A QUASI-ADIABATIC CALORIMETER FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF SPECIFIC HEAT OF SOLIDS IN THE RANGE 4.2-60 K.
Type of article: Article
Summary
THE DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE CRYOSTAT AND CALORIMETER AND THE INSTRUMENTATION BUILT TO MEASURE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SAMPLE-HOLDER, THE ENERGY SUPPLIED TO THE SAMPLE AND TO CONTROL THE GUARD TEMPERATURE TO OBTAIN NEAR-ADIABATIC CONDITIONS ARE DESCRIBED. THE METHOD OF MEASUREMENT IS DESCRIBED AND THE METHOD OF ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS TO OBTAIN THE DEBYE TEMPERATURE AND THE LINEAR COEFFICIENT OF THE SPECIFIC HEAT AT LOW TEMPERATURES IS DISCUSSED. SAMPLE RESULTS ON THE SPECIFIC HEAT OF YBACUO(7-) ARE PRESENTED.
