Author(s) : EICHER H., WEILENMANN J.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The combination of electric heat pumps with cogeneration power plants can result in an energy system with a very high efficiency for supplying heat and power. Such a system is now developing in Switzerland where much of the extra power demand from newly installed heat pumps is delivered by fossil-fuel cogeneration-plants. The article examines the growing markets for these two technologies and discusses the benefits of this highly successful combination.
