In order to ensure safe application of ammonia in refrigeration, all disciplines involved must participate to realize a plant that can be operated and maintained safely under all possible conditions. In this respect, safety is related to employees present nearby the plant, people involved in operating and maintaining the plant and people present in the surrounding of the installation. To arrive at this, legislation, investors, designers, manufacturers, owners, operators and maintenance engineers must go hand in hand with each other.
