Summary
In this study, a minimally invasive injection method used to enhance the addition of cryoprotective agent into target biological tissues or organs to be cryopreserved was investigated. Compared with the traditional treatment through immersion and permeation, direct injection was more effective and faster. To illustrate the benefits of this approach, a mathematical model for the addition of the cryoprotective agent was established and experiments were performed to test the differences inherent in the two methods. Both the theoretical and the experimental results demonstrate that the minimally invasive injection method for enhancing the addition of a cryoprotective agent is a promising substitution for the commonly used immersion method.
