ADVANCED HEAT PUMP AND AIR CONDITIONING CYCLES FOR THE WORKING PAIR WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE: DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS.

Author(s) : ALEFELD G., ZIEGLER F.

Summary

AN ADVANCED CYCLE IS PRESENTED, BY WHICH PRESENTLY USED WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE AIR CONDITIONERS CAN BE SWITCHED INTO A HEAT PUMP MODE OF OPERATION. THE HEAT OF ABSORPTION IS TRANSFORMED TO TEMPERATURES ABOVE 323 K (50 DEG C), THUS BEING USABLE FOR HEATING. IN A FURTHER CYCLE, THE INTEGRATION OF A STEAM COMPRESSOR INTO A ABSORPTION SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED. DRIVING THE COMPRESSOR WITH A COMBUSTION ENGINE AND FEEDING THE WASTE HEAT INTO THE GENERATORS OF THE ABSORPTION SYSTEM YIELDS AN INCREASE OF THE COP FROM PRESENTLY ABOUT 1 (FOR DOUBLE-EFFECT ABSORPTION MACHINES OR FOR ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN COMPRESSION MACHINES) TO ABOUT 1.5.
