Summary

Gas-flame air-conditioning systems were increasingly used mainly for office and hotel buildings. Some favourable aspects, compared to traditional HVAC, are the low acoustic emission of such systems and the possibility of avoiding relevant electrical power requirements, taking into account the critical situation of the electricity distribution system. Nevertheless, a detailed comparative study on the performances of these systems is not available in literature. In this work the yearly energy demand of a building, via a detailed dynamic simulation, is carried out. The results allow a comparison on the energy efficiency of the two HVAC systems for evaluating economical aspects in different installations.
