An analysis and calculation of regenerative process of active magnetic refrigerator.

Author(s) : GONG Y. Y., ZHI T., LU Y. F., et al.

Summary

Simulating calculations on the magnetic refrigerator (MR) based on active magnetic regenerator (AMR) are presented. The results in different operating conditions are also presented. It is found that the variable cycle operating mode is more efficient than the fixed cycle operating mode. And the AMR bed's internal temperature profile of the variable cycle operating mode is much closer to the diagonal than that of the fixed cycle operating mode, which means that the former helps to decrease the cold/heat loss resulted from over amount of heat exchange fluid flux in a semi-cycle. The authors' work is mainly based on the variable cycle operating mode. They have a further research on the cycle time, the "platform" in AMR bed and the COP when the length of AMR is different in variable cycle operating mode.
