AN ANALYTIC AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF NUCLEATE POOL BOILING HEAT TRANSFER ON POROUS TUBE SURFACES AND THE CORRELATION OF NUCLEATE BOILING HEAT TRANSFER FOR SOME CRYOGENIC FLUIDS.

Author(s) : YUAN X.

Summary

THE AUTHORS PRESENT NUCLEATE BOILING ON A POROUS SURFACE. THEY DEVELOPED A COMPARISON OF THE CHARACTERISTIC OF HEAT TRANSFER BETWEEN A SMOOTH TUBE AND A TUBE WITH A POROUS SURFACE PLACED HORIZONTALLY AND VERTICALLY. THE RESULT SHOWS THAT THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT FOR THE POROUS SURFACE TUBE IS INCREASED BY 3 TO 10 TIMES AS COMPARED TO THE SMOOTH TUBE AND THAT FOR THE VERTICAL POROUS SURFACE TUBE, THIS COEFFICIENT IS INCREASED BY 15 TO 20% AS COMPARED TO THE HORIZONTAL TUBE. THE AUTHORS STUDIED THE EFFECT OF SOME PARAMETERS ON NUCLEATE BOILING. THEY OBTAINED A GENERAL CORRELATION FOR LIQUID NITROGEN AND OXYGEN, R11, R22, R113 AND R114.
