An experimental comparison between a compression and an absorption heat pump for water purification.

Summary

A compression heat pump was integrated in a water purification system with good results. An absorption heat pump was also integrated in a purification system and was also experimentally evaluated. The quality of the water obtained was better than that of the compression system. The temperature used for water purification in both systems was similar. A comparison between both systems was carried out using primary energy requirements. Figures on the water production flow rate are presented for both systems as a function of COP. A comparison of the water quality is also presented.
