Effects of additional heat exchangers on the COP of a double effect LiBr-water absorption refrigerator.

Author(s) : JEONG S. Y., LEE S. W.

Summary

Because of soaring energy prices, lots of efforts have been done to improve the COP of double effect Libr-water absorption chillers. This paper demonstrates how the COP of a double effect absorption refrigeration cycle is influenced by additional heat exchangers such as an ESX (exhaust gas to solution heat exchanger), an RSX (refrigerant to solution heat exchanger) and an SCA (solution cooled absorber). Using EES (engineering Equation Solver), the effect of the UA-values of the additional components on the system COP is calculated, and the proper UA-values are suggested regarding both the COP and the initial cost of the product.
