Type of article: Article

Summary

The article highlights the activities of Annex 18 of the IEA Heat Pump Programme "Thermophysical properties of the environmentally acceptable refrigerants", which was established in 1990. The objectives of the Annex are to foster coordination and cooperation among researchers in this field and to determine thermophysical properties leading to internationally accepted formulations for the leading alternative refrigerants. Tasks in support of these goals have included surveys of research, compilations of data, evaluations of equations of state, and the preparation of properties bulletins for R134a and R123. The Annex has recently entered its second phase with an emphasis on R22 alternatives.
