Application of contaminant removal efficiency in theory and practice.

Summary

The standard of air quality is investigated in a single room office using two different arrangements of displacement ventilation. The contaminant removal efficiency of the breathed air is measured in the nose of a thermal mannequin with artificial respiration. This value is compared with the concentration profile in the room. For both cases (ceiling outlets and floor outlets), zone separation between the fresh air is observed. The contaminant removal effectiveness in the fresh air zone is lower due to entrainment, partly caused by the outlet. Results are given concerning removal of pollutants.
