Contamination control of indoor air at individual workplaces.

Author(s) : SODEC F.

Summary

Where pollutants are emitted at individual workplaces, it is most effective to control contamination of indoor air at the workplace itself, i.e. by discharging the air directly at the workplace, combined with local extraction of the polluted indoor air. The best method to displace the pollutants from the workplace as directly as possible is to introduce low-turbulence air. Discharge velocities of 0.2-0.4 m/s should, as a rule, be selected. Examples are described which substantially improve the air conditions at the workplace and intensify the removal of pollutants. The examples come from the automobile sector, pharmaceutical and chemical plants, textile industry and medicine.
