Application of hydrodynamic stability theory to film boiling modes in He II.

Author(s) : NOZAWA M., MURAKAMI M., KIMURA N., et al.

Summary

The film boiling modes in He II was examined on the basis of the hydrodynamic stability theory with necessary modification, of which original form was applied to the film boiling in ordinary fluids. The resulting strongly non-linear equation for the vapour film thickness taking account of strong condensation and mass transfer was linearized to examine the stability of the film. It is found from this stability analysis that the present neutral stability curve for film boiling modes well agrees with the boundary between the strongly and weakly subcooled film boiling modes.
